Delicious and wholesome dog treats made with pumpkin, applesauce, and warm spices.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Pumpkin Puree
  • 1 cup Unsweetened Applesauce
  • 1/2 cup Peanut Butter (optional)
  • 2 cups Whole Wheat Flour (or oat flour for gluten-free)
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1 Egg (or flax egg)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the pumpkin puree, applesauce, and peanut butter (if using) in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Combine the whole wheat flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg in another bowl.
  4. Blend the dry ingredients into the pumpkin mixture until a soft dough forms.
  5. Roll out the dough to ½ inch thickness on a floured surface and cut into shapes.
  6. Place cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet about an inch apart.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until edges are lightly brown.
  8. Cool completely before storing in an airtight container.

Notes

These cookies can be frozen for up to three months and are safe for dogs when made without added sugars.
