Ingredients
- 2 3/4 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 cup Unsalted Butter (room temperature)
- 1 Egg
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/4 tsp Salt
Instructions
- Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. In another bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet, forming a cohesive dough.
- Chill your dough for at least 30 minutes to help the flavors meld.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes and transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until the edges are just lightly golden. Rotate baking sheets halfway through.
- Let the cookies cool on wire racks. Decorate with icing and toppings as desired.
Notes
Use gluten-free flour for a gluten-free version, and consider adding citrus zest or spices like cinnamon for added flavor. Store cookies in an airtight container.
