Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- Optional: mini chocolate chips, sprinkles, or citrus zest
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl, then gradually add to the wet ingredients.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about ¼ inch thick and cut out with a heart-shaped cookie cutter.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
- Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Feel free to add colorful icings or sprinkles for decoration. To achieve the best texture, do not skip the chilling step.
