Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar (for rolling)
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon (for rolling)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two cookie sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream together 1 cup of softened unsalted butter with 1 ½ cups of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add in 2 large eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Mix in 2 teaspoons of cream of tartar, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and a pinch of salt.
- Gradually add 2 ¾ cups of all-purpose flour, stirring until just combined.
- Combine 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar with 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Roll the dough into 1.5-inch balls and then coat each ball in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Place the coated balls onto the prepared cookie sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
- Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
Ensure butter is at room temperature for best results. Chill the dough for deeper flavors if time allows.
