Ingredients
- 40 saltine crackers
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
- Spread the saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Melt the butter and brown sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until it comes to a gentle boil (about 3-5 minutes).
- Pour the toffee mixture over the crackers and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 5-7 minutes until the toffee bubbles and darkens slightly.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Let them soften and then spread the melted chocolate evenly.
- Sprinkle sea salt over the chocolate and let cool on the counter for an hour, then refrigerate for another hour.
- Once cooled, break into shards and enjoy!
Notes
For extra flavor variations, add nuts or crushed peppermint on top before cooling.
