Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (or your choice of protein)
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 12 crunchy taco shells
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
- Avocado, sliced (optional)
- Sour cream (for serving)
- Salsa (for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in taco seasoning with a splash of water, and let it simmer for about 2 minutes.
- Set the taco shells in a baking dish, gently packing each shell with a generous amount of filling.
- Sprinkle cheese liberally on top of each filled shell.
- Bake in the oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the shells are crisp and the cheese is bubbling.
- Prepare your toppings while the tacos bake.
- Allow to cool for a minute before garnishing with sour cream, salsa, and cilantro.
Notes
Avoid overfilling taco shells for optimal crispiness and ensure that a layer of cheese is included for the best results.
