A beautifully glazed ham infused with maple syrup and bourbon that creates a sweet-savory flavor, perfect for special occasions or holiday gatherings.

  • Total Time: 110 minutes
  • Yield: 10 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 bone-in ham (spiral-sliced for easy serving)
  • 1 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • Fresh herbs (like rosemary or thyme) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (162°C).
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine maple syrup, bourbon, Dijon mustard, brown sugar, and ground cloves. Simmer over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, stirring continuously.
  3. Place the bone-in ham in a large roasting pan and score the surface in a diamond pattern.
  4. Brush the maple-bourbon glaze generously over the scored ham, saving some for later.
  5. Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil and bake for 15-18 minutes per pound, basting every 30 minutes.
  6. In the last 30 minutes, remove the foil, brush again with glaze, and allow the ham to caramelize.
  7. After baking, let the ham rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing and serving with remaining glaze.

Notes

If you have dietary restrictions, you can swap out bourbon for apple cider. If avoiding sugar, consider a suitable sugar substitute that can caramelize.
