A simple yet elegant dish of sautéed French green beans with toasted almonds, perfect for elevating any meal.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 pound French green beans
  • 1/2 cup sliced or slivered almonds
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Fresh lemon juice, to taste

Instructions

  1. Rinse the French green beans under cold water and trim the ends. Cut into shorter lengths if desired.
  2. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil, add the beans, and blanch for 2-3 minutes until bright green and crisp-tender. Immediately transfer to an ice bath.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the sliced almonds and sauté until golden brown and fragrant.
  4. Add the drained green beans to the skillet and sauté for another 2-3 minutes. Season with garlic, salt, and pepper, and add fresh herbs if desired.
  5. Add a light squeeze of fresh lemon juice before serving and enjoy warm.

Notes

Avoid overcooking the beans and remember to use the ice bath to maintain their color and crunch.
