Ingredients
- 1 pound French green beans
- 1/2 cup sliced or slivered almonds
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- Fresh lemon juice, to taste
Instructions
- Rinse the French green beans under cold water and trim the ends. Cut into shorter lengths if desired.
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil, add the beans, and blanch for 2-3 minutes until bright green and crisp-tender. Immediately transfer to an ice bath.
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the sliced almonds and sauté until golden brown and fragrant.
- Add the drained green beans to the skillet and sauté for another 2-3 minutes. Season with garlic, salt, and pepper, and add fresh herbs if desired.
- Add a light squeeze of fresh lemon juice before serving and enjoy warm.
Notes
Avoid overcooking the beans and remember to use the ice bath to maintain their color and crunch.
