- 1 cup almond flour
- 1 ¾ cup confectioner’s sugar
- 3 egg whites
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon cream of tartar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Green food coloring
Instructions
- Sift the almond flour and confectioner’s sugar into a bowl.
- Beat egg whites until frothy, then add cream of tartar and gradually add granulated sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Fold in the almond flour mixture carefully and add green food coloring.
- Pipe small circles onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Rest the piped macarons for 30 to 60 minutes at room temperature.
- Bake at 300°F (150°C) for 15 to 20 minutes, rotating halfway through.
- Beat the softened butter until creamy, then add powdered sugar and vanilla extract until fluffy.
- Pair and fill the cooled macaron shells with frosting.
- Let the assembled macarons mature in the fridge overnight.
