Ingredients

  • 1 cup full-fat cottage cheese (or Greek yogurt)
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (or half whole wheat flour)
  • 1 teaspoon quick-rising instant yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (or vegetable oil)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Blend in the cottage cheese with the yeast mixture.
  3. Gradually add the flour and salt into the wet ingredients, mixing with a spatula or hands until it forms a shaggy dough.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Lightly oil a clean bowl and place the dough inside, covering it with a damp cloth. Let it rise in a warm spot for about an hour until it doubles in size.
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 6-8 equal portions. Roll each ball into a 6-8 inch circle.
  7. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook each rolled-out naan for 2-3 minutes until bubbles form, then flip and cook for another 2 minutes until charred and cooked through.
  8. Brush with melted butter or garlic butter and serve warm.
