  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 24 cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • Optional: powdered sugar for glaze
  • Optional: orange juice for glaze

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in the fresh cranberries and orange zest gently.
  7. Scoop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space for spreading.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until the edges are slightly golden.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. For an optional glaze, whisk together powdered sugar with orange juice and drizzle over the cooled cookies.

Notes

Chill the dough for thicker cookies and avoid overmixing to maintain tenderness.
