Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 cup softened butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp almond extract
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup cherries (fresh or frozen)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set this dry mix aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the almond extract, mixing well after each addition.
- Gradually incorporate the dry mixture, scraping down the sides as necessary until the dough comes together.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and cherries, ensuring even distribution throughout the dough.
- Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about two inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are slightly firm and the tops are just set.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Chill the dough for about 30 minutes before baking for thicker cookies. Avoid overbaking.
