Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of savory panettone, cut into cubes
  • 1 pound Italian sausage (sweet or spicy)
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped

  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Prep Your Ingredients: Cut the panettone into bite-sized cubes and let it dry for a few hours or overnight.
  2. Sauté the Aromatics: In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion, celery, and garlic, cooking until soft, about 5 minutes.
  3. Cook the Sausage: Add Italian sausage to the skillet, breaking it up. Cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes.
  4. Combine Ingredients: In a bowl, mix panettone cubes with sausage mixture, herbs, salt, and pepper. Pour in the broth slowly.
  5. Bind with Eggs: Stir in the beaten eggs to bind the mixture together.
  6. Transfer to Baking Dish: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C), grease a baking dish, and spoon the mixture into it.
  7. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until golden and crisp.
