Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless chicken (breast or thighs)
- 1 package of wonton wrappers
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, chopped (sweet or yellow)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp green onions, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 lime, for squeezing
- Cooking oil (canola or vegetable) for frying
Instructions
- Prepare the Filling: In a skillet, heat a splash of oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and chopped onions, sauté for about 3-4 minutes. Stir in your chosen chicken, cooking for about 5–7 minutes. Drizzle in soy sauce, then add green onions and cilantro just before removing from heat.
- Assemble the Tacos: Place a heaping tablespoon of the filling into the center of a wonton wrapper. Wet edges with water, fold to form a triangle, and press to seal.
- Fry to Perfection: Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the sealed wontons until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side, then drain on a paper towel.
- Finish and Serve: Squeeze fresh lime juice over the tacos right before serving, and pair with various sauces like salsa or guacamole.
Notes
For a lighter option, substitute chicken with shredded tofu or ground beef. Use gluten-free wonton wrappers and tamari for a gluten-free version.
