Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 cup caramel sauce
- additional sea salt for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Melt the butter and chocolate together in a medium saucepan over low heat, stirring continuously until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool.
- In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the melted chocolate mixture, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fully incorporated.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating in each one until you achieve a glossy texture. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gently fold in the flour and salt using a spatula, mixing until no streaks remain.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan and drizzle half of the caramel sauce over it.
- Layer on the remaining batter on top of the caramel and use a knife to swirl it gently.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow to cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing and serving. Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce on top and finish with a sprinkle of sea salt.
Notes
For a dairy-free alternative, substitute coconut oil for butter. You can also use dark chocolate for a more intense flavor.
