  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 24 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Optional toppings: colored sugar or chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13 inch baking pan by lining it with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, fully incorporating each before adding the next, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until combined.
  5. Spread the dough evenly in the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let cool for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Slice into squares and serve.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, substitute butter with coconut oil. You can also use sugar substitutes like erythritol for a lower sugar option.
