Ingredients
- 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, sliced into thin strips
- 1/2 cup soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- Optional: bell peppers, broccoli, or snap peas
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Slice beef into thin strips against the grain and season lightly with salt and pepper.
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil until smooth to create the sauce.
- Place the beef in the slow cooker and cover with the sauce.
- Cook on low for 4-5 hours or on high for 2-3 hours.
- About 30 minutes before serving, mix cornstarch with cold water and stir into the slow cooker to thicken the sauce.
- Add vegetables if using, in the last hour of cooking.
- Before serving, top with chopped green onions and enjoy!
Notes
For a lighter twist, substitute beef with chicken or tofu. Make sure not to overfill the slow cooker for even cooking.
