- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

- 8 oz cream cheese, for frosting
- 2 cups powdered sugar, for frosting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and spices. Set aside.
- In another bowl, cream the butter and dark brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the molasses and mix until combined, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth out the top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, checking for doneness with a cake tester.
- For the frosting, beat the cream cheese until smooth, then gradually add the powdered sugar until desired sweetness is achieved.
- Once the brownies are completely cooled, spread the frosting over the top.
Notes
Use substitutions like whole wheat flour for all-purpose flour or coconut cream for a dairy-free frosting.
