A delightful dish featuring tender beef and crisp asparagus, sautéed with aromatic garlic and soy sauce, perfect for sharing with loved ones.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 pound flank steak or sirloin, sliced against the grain
  • 1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (plus more for sautéing)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients: Slice the beef against the grain into thin strips.
  2. Marinate the beef (optional): Combine soy sauce, minced garlic, and a drizzle of olive oil. Let the beef marinate for 15-30 minutes.
  3. Sauté the beef: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil, and toss in the beef strips. Sear until browned, about 2-3 minutes, then remove and set aside.
  4. Cook the asparagus: In the same skillet, add more olive oil if necessary and sauté the asparagus for 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
  5. Combine: Return the beef to the skillet with the asparagus and cook together for another minute.
  6. Finishing touches: Adjust seasonings and serve hot over rice or noodles.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, substitute beef with tofu or tempeh. Serve with jasmine rice or whole grain noodles.
