Ingredients
- 1 pound flank steak or sirloin, sliced against the grain
- 1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (plus more for sautéing)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Prep your ingredients: Slice the beef against the grain into thin strips.
- Marinate the beef (optional): Combine soy sauce, minced garlic, and a drizzle of olive oil. Let the beef marinate for 15-30 minutes.
- Sauté the beef: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil, and toss in the beef strips. Sear until browned, about 2-3 minutes, then remove and set aside.
- Cook the asparagus: In the same skillet, add more olive oil if necessary and sauté the asparagus for 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
- Combine: Return the beef to the skillet with the asparagus and cook together for another minute.
- Finishing touches: Adjust seasonings and serve hot over rice or noodles.
Notes
For a vegetarian version, substitute beef with tofu or tempeh. Serve with jasmine rice or whole grain noodles.
