Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1 cup dried cranberries
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C) and prepare baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Gradually add in the flour until fully combined; the dough may look crumbly.
- Stir in the orange zest and dried cranberries until evenly distributed.
- On a floured surface, roll the dough into a log about 2 inches in diameter. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 1 hour.
- Slice the chilled log into 1/4 inch thick rounds and place on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
- Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
Ensure your butter is at room temperature for the best texture. Avoid overworking the dough to keep cookies tender.
