Delightful cookies combining buttery shortbread, zesty orange, and tart cranberries, perfect for winter gatherings.

  • Total Time: 30
  • Yield: 24 cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C) and prepare baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Gradually add in the flour until fully combined; the dough may look crumbly.
  4. Stir in the orange zest and dried cranberries until evenly distributed.
  5. On a floured surface, roll the dough into a log about 2 inches in diameter. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 1 hour.
  6. Slice the chilled log into 1/4 inch thick rounds and place on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

Ensure your butter is at room temperature for the best texture. Avoid overworking the dough to keep cookies tender.
