Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
- 1 tablespoon milk
- Red food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Cream the softened butter in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
- Gradually sift in the powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until combined.
- Add peppermint extract or oil, starting with 1 teaspoon, and adjust to taste.
- Mix in 1 tablespoon of milk to achieve a thick, moldable consistency.
- Divide the dough in half. Leave one half plain and add red food coloring to the other, kneading until evenly colored.
- Roll tiny pieces of each color into balls and flatten slightly on parchment paper.
- Let the mints air dry for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
Notes
These mints can easily be made dairy-free by substituting the butter with coconut oil.
