Delightful and creamy butter mints with a refreshing hint of peppermint, perfect for holiday celebrations.

  • Total Time: 120 minutes
  • Yield: 20 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • Red food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cream the softened butter in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  2. Gradually sift in the powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until combined.
  3. Add peppermint extract or oil, starting with 1 teaspoon, and adjust to taste.
  4. Mix in 1 tablespoon of milk to achieve a thick, moldable consistency.
  5. Divide the dough in half. Leave one half plain and add red food coloring to the other, kneading until evenly colored.
  6. Roll tiny pieces of each color into balls and flatten slightly on parchment paper.
  7. Let the mints air dry for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  8. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.

Notes

These mints can easily be made dairy-free by substituting the butter with coconut oil.
