Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup crushed candy canes, plus extra for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, followed by the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Gently fold in the crushed candy canes, reserving a handful for decorations.
- Scoop tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden; the center may appear soft.
- Allow cooling for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack. Sprinkle with reserved crushed candy canes while warm.
- Enjoy with family and friends!
