A festive and delightful ham and cheese puff pastry formed into a Christmas tree shape, perfect for holiday gatherings.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 package puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
  • 8 oz deli ham, sliced
  • 8 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 8 oz mozzarella or Gruyère cheese, shredded
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)
  • Fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, or parsley – optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface until it’s about 1/8 inch thick. Cut the pastry into a tree shape.
  3. Layer the ham evenly across the center of the tree.
  4. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the ham generously.
  5. If using, sprinkle fresh herbs over the cheese.
  6. Cut slits on either side of the filling, about 1 inch apart.
  7. Fold the sections over the filling, alternating sides to create ‘branches.’
  8. Brush the pastry with egg wash for a golden finish.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
  10. Let it cool for a few moments before serving.

Notes

This dish can also be made vegetarian by substituting ham with a medley of roasted vegetables.
