Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 cups mix-ins (chocolate chips, nuts, dried fruits, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in your mix-ins.
  7. Scoop mounds of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space in between.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden brown but the centers remain soft.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a chewier cookie, slightly underbake them. Use fresh ingredients for the best results.
