- 1 pound chicken sausage, sliced
- 3 cups broccoli, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup orzo
- 1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth
- Fresh thyme or parsley, for garnish
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced chicken sausage and cook until browned and slightly crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
- Toss in minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Cook the orzo according to package instructions in a separate pot, usually around 8-10 minutes, and drain.
- Add the fresh broccoli and chicken broth to the skillet. Cover and cook for 5 minutes until the broccoli is bright green and tender.
- Combine the cooked orzo with the contents of the skillet. Season with salt, pepper, and garnish with fresh herbs.
Notes
For a vegetarian option, substitute chicken sausage with lentil or plant-based sausage. Fresh herbs are key for flavor.
