A delightful recipe for sweet and savory candied bacon, perfect for brunch or as a topping for various dishes.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 lb thick-cut bacon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil. Place a wire rack on top.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, maple syrup, cayenne pepper, and black pepper until thick but spreadable.
  3. Lay the bacon strips on the wire rack and generously spread the glaze over each strip.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, watching closely until crispy and caramelized.
  5. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes to allow the glaze to harden before enjoying.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, substitute with tempeh bacon. This recipe can also be adapted using honey or agave syrup instead of brown sugar.
