Ingredients
- 1 lb thick-cut bacon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil. Place a wire rack on top.
- In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, maple syrup, cayenne pepper, and black pepper until thick but spreadable.
- Lay the bacon strips on the wire rack and generously spread the glaze over each strip.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, watching closely until crispy and caramelized.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes to allow the glaze to harden before enjoying.
Notes
For a vegetarian option, substitute with tempeh bacon. This recipe can also be adapted using honey or agave syrup instead of brown sugar.
