- 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup molasses
- 1 large egg

Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt until well combined.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add molasses and egg, mixing until well blended.
- Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients until a dough forms.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least one hour.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and roll out the chilled dough to about ¼ inch thick.
- Use cookie cutters to cut out gingerbread figures and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are slightly firm.
- Cool completely on a wire rack before decorating.
