Ingredients
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
- Red and white food coloring
- Lollipop sticks
Instructions
- Prepare your workspace with all ingredients and tools.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, mix sugar and corn syrup until dissolved.
- Bring the mixture to a boil without stirring and monitor with a candy thermometer until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
- Remove from heat and stir in peppermint extract and food coloring until uniform.
- Quickly pour the mixture into heart-shaped lollipop molds.
- Insert lollipop sticks while the candy is warm and starting to set.
- Let cool completely at room temperature (15 to 30 minutes).
- Once set, pop lollipops out of the molds carefully.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature, away from humidity.
Notes
Ensure you work quickly once the candy is poured, as it hardens fast. Experiment with different flavors or colors for unique variations.
