Ingredients

  • Chocolate (dark or milk)
  • Candy canes
  • Coconut oil or shortening (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate by chopping it into small pieces and heating it in a microwave-safe bowl in short bursts, stirring occasionally until smooth.
  2. Prepare heart-shaped molds by ensuring they are clean and dry.
  3. Fill the molds halfway with melted chocolate and tap on the counter to release air bubbles.
  4. Once the chocolate is set for about 10 minutes, sprinkle crushed candy canes on top.
  5. Pour another layer of melted chocolate over the candy canes to cover them completely.
  6. Allow the molds to sit in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
  7. Carefully pop the hearts out of the molds and dip edges in more crushed candy canes or sprinkle sea salt, if desired, then store in an airtight container.

Notes

For a more glossy finish, add a little coconut oil to the chocolate. Ensure chocolate cools before adding candy canes to maintain crunch.
