A delightful cinnamon swirl bread enveloped in a creamy custard bath and topped with a sweet glaze, perfect for gatherings or a cozy snack.

  • Total Time: 55 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings

Ingredients

  • 4 cups bread flour (or all-purpose flour)
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk (for custard)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a bowl, mix yeast, warm milk, and a pinch of sugar. Allow it to activate until bubbly.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In another bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add activated yeast and melted butter to the flour mixture, mix in eggs and knead until a smooth dough forms. Allow it to rise in a warm spot until doubled in size.
  3. Make the Filling: Combine brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Roll the dough into a rectangle and spread softened butter over it, followed by the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  4. Shape the Bread: Roll the rectangle tightly and slice it into individual pieces. Place them in a greased loaf pan, allowing room for the dough to rise further.
  5. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Bake the bread for about 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Prepare the Custard: Whisk eggs, 1 cup of milk, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Pour the custard over the warm bread, allowing it to soak.
  7. Glaze: Once cool, make the glaze with powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to pour over your loaf for extra sweetness.
  8. Serve: Slice and serve warm with your favorite morning brew or as a delightful snack.

Notes

Ensure your yeast is fresh for a good rise. Let the custard soak fully for richer flavor.
