Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Add salt and flour gradually, mixing until a dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Grease a bowl lightly with oil and place the dough inside, turning it to coat. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size—about an hour.
  5. Carefully punch down the risen dough and transfer it to a greased baking sheet. Stretch it into a rectangle or circle, making dimples all over the surface.
  6. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with your favorite toppings.
  7. Allow the topped dough to rise for 30 minutes to an hour. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) during this time.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
