Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 and 1/2 cups warm water
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- Toppings: honey, cinnamon, fresh rosemary, or fruits
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
- Add salt and flour gradually, mixing until a dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Grease a bowl lightly with oil and place the dough inside, turning it to coat. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size—about an hour.
- Carefully punch down the risen dough and transfer it to a greased baking sheet. Stretch it into a rectangle or circle, making dimples all over the surface.
- Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with your favorite toppings.
- Allow the topped dough to rise for 30 minutes to an hour. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) during this time.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool on a wire rack before slicing and enjoy warm.
Notes
Use fresh yeast for best results and don’t skip the rising times for an airy texture.
