Instructions

  1. Rinse the Cranberries: Wash the fresh cranberries thoroughly under cold water and remove any soft or damaged berries.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large pot, combine the cranberries and water. Bring it to a boil over medium heat.
  3. Simmer and Cook: Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes until the cranberries pop open and the mixture turns a beautiful crimson.
  4. Add Sweetener: Strain the mixture through a fine sieve or cheesecloth into a bowl and add sweetener to taste.
  5. Infuse with Flavor: Return the strained juice to the pot, add cinnamon sticks and orange zest if using, and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
