Ingredients
- Fresh Cranberries: 4 cups (frozen cranberries can be substituted)
- Water: 4 cups
- Sweetener: 1 to 2 cups of honey or sugar (to taste)
- Cinnamon Sticks: Optional
- Orange Zest or Juice: To taste
Instructions
- Rinse the Cranberries: Wash the fresh cranberries thoroughly under cold water and remove any soft or damaged berries.
- Combine Ingredients: In a large pot, combine the cranberries and water. Bring it to a boil over medium heat.
- Simmer and Cook: Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes until the cranberries pop open and the mixture turns a beautiful crimson.
- Add Sweetener: Strain the mixture through a fine sieve or cheesecloth into a bowl and add sweetener to taste.
- Infuse with Flavor: Return the strained juice to the pot, add cinnamon sticks and orange zest if using, and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
- Cool and Serve: Remove from heat, let cool, and serve chilled over ice or warmed.
Notes
Make a larger batch to store for later use to enjoy throughout the week.
