Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- A pinch of nutmeg
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup milk (or almond/coconut milk)
- 2 large eggs
- 3-4 Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples, peeled and chopped
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting or glaze
Instructions
- Prepare the apples: Peel and slice apples into small pieces, toss them with 1 tablespoon of sugar and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
- Make the batter: In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg. In another bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, and sugar. Combine both mixtures without overmixing.
- Incorporate the apples: Fold the apple pieces into the batter.
- Heat the oil: In a skillet, heat 2 inches of oil over medium-high heat.
- Fry the fritters: Drop spoonfuls of batter into hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Drain and glaze: Transfer fritters to a paper towel to absorb excess oil and glaze if desired.
- Serve: Enjoy warm, dusted with powdered sugar or with desserts like ice cream.
