Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for rolling)
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon (for rolling)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- In a small bowl, mix together granulated sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll tablespoons of dough into balls and then coat in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Place the dough balls on a baking sheet, spaced 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet before transferring to wire racks.
Notes
To avoid spreading, refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking.
