Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground ginger
  • ½ tsp ground cardamom
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ¾ cup maple syrup
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 12-cup muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and cloves.
  3. In another bowl, beat together the butter and maple syrup until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the milk until well combined.
  5. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Spoon the batter into the cupcake liners, filling each about ⅔ full.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool before frosting or enjoy plain.

Notes

Allow cupcakes to cool before frosting to prevent the frosting from melting.
