Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan with butter or non-stick spray, and line the bottom with parchment paper.
- Cream together the softened butter and both sugars in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then incorporate the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with splashes of milk. Mix until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice, serve, and enjoy!
Notes
For an extra touch of decadence, drizzle a chocolate ganache over the cooled cake.
