Ingredients

  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan with butter or non-stick spray, and line the bottom with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and both sugars in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then incorporate the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with splashes of milk. Mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
