Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour (can substitute with gluten-free flour)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 cup apple cider (or apple juice)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (or coconut oil)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 2 cups diced apples (Granny Smith recommended)
- 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp apple cider
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, heat the apple cider until warm, not boiling.
- Add the yeast and sugar, allowing it to sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Pour in the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix until dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth. Place it in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour in a warm place.
- While the dough is rising, combine brown sugar, cinnamon, and diced apples in a bowl. Set aside.
- Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle. Evenly spread the apple filling over the dough.
- Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal pieces.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish. Cover and allow them to rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Whisk together powdered sugar, apple cider, and vanilla for the glaze and drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
- For extra gooiness, consider adding honey or caramel sauce atop the filling before rolling.
Notes
Ensure your yeast is fresh for optimal rising. Allow dough to rise properly for soft texture.
