Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs (or breasts)
  • ½ cup hoisin sauce
  • ¼ cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 2 tbsp honey (or brown sugar)
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, vinegar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes.
  2. Place chicken in the slow cooker. Pour sauce over top and stir to coat.
  3. Cover and cook on LOW for 5–6 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours until chicken is tender.
  4. Shred chicken with two forks, return to sauce, and stir well. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes
