Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces (or about 4-6 chicken thighs)
- 1 cup apple cider vinegar
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 cup chicken broth (or vegetable broth)
- Fresh herbs (thyme, rosemary, or sage)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: sliced mushrooms for added earthiness
Instructions
- Prep Your Ingredients: Start by chopping your vegetables and mincing the garlic.
- Sear the Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the chicken, then add it to the hot skillet and cook until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes on each side.
- Sauté the Veggies: Remove chicken and add onions and mushrooms to the skillet. Cook until softened, then add garlic and sauté for an additional minute.
- Deglaze with Vinegar: Pour the apple cider vinegar into the skillet and scrape up the browned bits.
- Combine Ingredients: Return chicken to the skillet with the chicken broth and fresh herbs. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- Braise to Perfection: Cover and reduce heat to low. Braise for about 40-50 minutes, until the chicken is tender.
- Serve Warm: Garnish with fresh herbs and serve with your favorite sides.
Notes
For added flavor, consider marinating the chicken in a mixture of apple cider vinegar, olive oil, and herbs for a few hours before cooking.
